Virginia Groover
Born: May 7th, 1994, Raleigh, NC
Currently lives in: Franklinton, NC
Instruments: Flatpick and rhythm guitar, vocals
Virginia is the band’s main flatpicker. She got a guitar when she was eleven years old and taught herself to play using CDs. She then started taking lessons with Jan Johansson, formerly of New Vintage. She now sporadically takes lessons from Alan Mullen of Highway One. Virginia started singing only recently, and has gotten increasingly better at harmony. She sometimes plays bass on recordings. She is the third Groover kid and is a great team-builder when it comes to getting the little kids to do things. Virginia is home schooled.
If you can’t find her, try: Her room (she’ll be playing guitar with her CD player’s volume turned up extremely high, spazzing about some guitar break, reading one of Katie Beth’s books, or taking a nap), the woods (if it’s deer season, she’ll be hunting, and if it’s not, she’ll be riding the dirt bike), the computer (she’ll be pretending to study, chatting, watching YouTube videos, or listening to music), the kitchen (she’ll be making cookies), or somewhere where there’s swing music (she’ll be dancing).
Favorite bands/musicians: Tony Rice, Clay Hess, Bryan Sutton, (of course, Alan Mullen ;-) ), Sierra Hull, Mountain Heart, Cherryholmes, Grasstowne, Rhonda Vincent, Constant Change, and...a whole lot more.
Favorite songs: Too many to count...
Favorite books: Tale of Two Cities, True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, David Copperfield, anything by P.G. Wodehouse, etc.
Favorite movies: The Bourne movies, The Illusionist, etc.
Favorite foods: Pizza, fried chicken, homemade maccaroni and cheese, anything with sugar or chocolate.
Quirks: Oooh, I don't really have any quirks. Okay, I just lied. Let's see...I trip over everything, my pinky always ends up in my mouth when watching a movie, when riding dirtbikes, something either all of a sudden breaks, or I suddenly feel the need to run into something, (It's not my fault! Really!) and...there are a lot of other really weird things.
Most unanswerable quandary: What is my most unanswerable quandary?!
Most impossible aim: To be able to play like Tony Rice.
